Pasanga Review

Star-casts: Kishore, Sriram, Dharini, Vimal, Vega and many others.
Production: M. Sasikumar
Direction: Pandiraj
Music: James Vasanthan

Wow!!! Here’s another flick that marks the existence of changing phase in Kollywood. When we were prone to silly-going films of over-heroisms bounded with more punch dialogues and lots of irritating stunts, few filmmakers came to our rescue in penning scripts based on realisms. And again, here comes Pandiraj, protégé of Sasi Kumar illustrating the realms of poignant film.

Special Mention:
Right throughout the films based on towns and crossroads, none of the directors came up with a happy ending. Be it Paruthiveeran or Subramaniapuram, they had an appalling climax. But Pandiraj has something different on this vista.

Synopsis:
The film opens with Anbu (Kishore), a good chap making his way into a barren village along with his family elders. On his first day of admission in school, he has to go through a tough guy Jeeva (Sriram), who’s none other than the son of school headmaster… Anbu tries his best in befriending Jeeva. But this real bad guy pushes him into pits of tougher situations. More now, enmity shoots up on and on when Anbu excels not just in studies, but in all co-curricular activities. Their wars even catch up on a fire of great tiff between both their families. Meanwhile, Sundaram (Vimal) – Anbu’s uncle falls in love with Jeeva’s sister Sobikannu (Vega. However, the rifts between both the families are no more as they agree for this marriage. But, these little guys are the biggest obstructions not letting their mind of getting reconciled… Will things go on finely or is there something to blow everyone out of waters? This forms crux of this story….

Direction and Performance:
Director Pandiraj doesn’t vow himself on the screens about presenting offbeat themes for there are certain commercial panoramas too. There are humorous quotients as well emotional ones (Especially in the climax that wins applause) and more off that sort. The young lads are brimmed with more enthusiasms on showcasing crème de la crème piece of recital. Well, on the elders – Vimal does justice to his role while Vega offers pleasant surprise to all viewers with a contrastive characterization from her previous film ‘Saroja’.

Technical Aspects:
Technically, the film has good ones projected by respective technicians. Musical score by James Vasanth is extraordinary and background score adds more adherence to the projected situations.

Final Take:
There aren’t any blatant flaws to be mentioned in this film and it looks like every frame has been carefully designed by filmmaker. Although, there are bit and pieces of slow moments in latter part, the film is a pleasing entertainer for not just kids, but adults too.

On the whole, ‘Pasanga’ is a sure winner for this summer season as it would pull in more and more family audiences… It would surely sustain itself in box office for quite some weeks until big tickets will hit the screens.

Bottom - Line: Spellbindingly excellent

Verdict: Don’t miss it.
